Gracie Abrams - The Secret of Us - Interscope
Gracie Abrams returns with her sophomore album, "The Secret of Us" released via Interscope Records. This is Gracie's most expansive body of work both sonically and narratively. Coming off the heels of her hugely successful debut "Good Riddance" Gracie shows us how much she has accomplished in one short year. Gracie's growth as a songwriter and vocalist is showcased in her most extroverted album yet, as she continues to work with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner. A portion of these songs were also written with Gracie's best friend, Audrey Hobert. This album was written with the urgency with which you run home to detail every moment of a night to your friend, with her live experiences over the past year having deeply shaped the identity of this album.
Aaron Parks - Invisible Cinema (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series) - Blue Note Records
Pianist and composer Aaron Parks made his first Blue Note appearances as a member of Terence Blanchard’s band, an outfit akin to The Jazz Messengers in its cultivation of future jazz greats. After appearing on the trumpeter’s albums Bounce, Flow, and A Tale of God’s Will through the early 2000s, Parks made his own Blue Note debut in 2008 with Invisible Cinema, a striking album that has only grown in its influence across the modern jazz landscape since its release. The band—a quartet featuring the pianist with Mike Moreno on guitar, Matt Penman on bass, and Eric Harland on drums—travelled across new sonic and rhythmic frontiers on this set of Parks’ evocative original compositions which were imbued with a cinematic drama and drew inspiration from the likes of Wayne Shorter, Radiohead, Bjork, Meshell Ndegeocello, and more. This first-time vinyl release includes two bonus tracks previously only available in Japan.

Kenny Dorham/Jackie McLean - Inta Somethin' (Blue Note Tone Poet Series) - Blue Note Records
Kenny Dorham added stellar entries to the catalogs of Blue Note, Riverside, and New Jazz throughout the 1950s as he solidified his reputation as a leading trumpeter and composer on the jazz scene. He began 1961 in the studio for Blue Note recording his excellent album Whistle Stop and later that year cut his first date for Pacific Jazz, Inta Somethin’, a spirited live recording that captured Dorham leading a quintet with alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, pianist Walter Bishop Jr., bassist Leroy Vinnegar, and drummer Art Taylor at The Jazz Workshop in San Francisco. The band is firing on all cylinders throughout this set of four standards bookended by the Dorham originals “Us” and “San Francisco Beat.” A buoyant version of “It Could Happen To You” is performed quartet as a Dorham showcase, while the trumpeter lays out on “Let’s Face The Music And Dance” and “Lover Man” to give the spotlight to McLean.
Doug Watkins - Watkins At Large (Blue Note Tone Poet Series) - Blue Note Records
Recorded in 1956 for producer Tom Wilson’s short-lived Boston-based label Transition Records, Watkins At Large was the first of only two albums that the great bassist Doug Watkins would make as a leader. The Detroit native had moved to New York and begun to garner recognition for his contributions to the Art Blakey-Horace Silver co-led iteration of the Jazz Messengers as well as Bud Powell’s trio when Wilson decided to give him the opportunity to front his own recording date. Along with a first-rate ensemble featuring trumpeter Donald Byrd, tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley, guitarist Kenny Burrell, pianist Duke Jordan, and drummer Art Taylor, Watkins swings through a stellar set of blues, ballads, and more including originals written by Jordan, Burrell, and Thad Jones.

What's New 5-24-24
After more than two decades as a band, The Avett Brothers have stamped their own name on their 11th album. It's a return in some ways to their original form, too — raucous vocals, with harmonies in just the right places, over simple instrumentation. Here the guitars are electric, and the production is modern, but it’s a classic Avett Brothers theme: the agony and ecstasy of being in love.
Orton’s (Portishead) most personal work to date, the result of a period of sustained reflection and change — “lots of goodbyes,” in Beth’s words. Farewells to family, to friends, even to her former self. These are songs from the mid-course of life, when looking ahead no longer yields what it used to, and looking back has a sudden, sharper focus.
The songs here are as sincere as they are surreal, rooted in rich character studies and deep reflection. It’s a gorgeous collection of stripped-down bedroom folk wrapped in lush layers of synthesizers and washed out electric guitars, a poignant, expansive exploration of perception and purpose that manages to look both forwards and backwards all at once.
Following a five year hiatus and navigating through some notably peculiar circumstances, the Kentucky rockers are prepared to pick up where they left off (Social Cues— 2019’s Grammy winner for Best Rock Album) with the highly anticipated sounds of Neon Pill. It’s the perfect return for a band that has been greatly missed.
30 years later, Collective Soul is still going strong and continues to create infectious Alt-Rock music that is loved around the world. Here To Eternity contains 20 tracks of the catchy melodies, driving guitars, and soaring choruses that have defined the band's sound since their early days. This is a love letter to the fans.
Eilish’s third studio album, her most daring body of work to date, does exactly as the title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way. “This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl that I was,” Eilish says. “I’ve been grieving her. I’ve been looking for her in everything.”
Known for their eclectic Americana/roots fusion of alternative & outlaw country, rock, blues, R&B and Tejano/Tex-Mex influences, The Mavericks appropriately recorded these tracks in Nashville, New Mexico and Louisiana. The result invokes both a timeless feel of a classic Mavericks while again challenging conventions and pushing boundaries.
