Released by Roadrunner Records in 1996, Roots was the Brazilian heavy metal band's sixth studio album. Produced by Ross Robinson, the album found the band embracing their heritage by further exploring Brazilian musical textures, and features the singles "Roots Bloody Roots," "Attitude," and "Ratamahatta". A significant commercial success, selling over two million copies, it remains Sepultura's highest charting album in the States, peaking at #27 on the Billboard 200.
