Siren Records

For as long as I can remember, I have been writing songs. A few years ago, I was a finalist for the song 'Second Hand', in Billboard Magazine's Song Writing Competition. The aspect of music I enjoy the most is the crafting of a song. My quest has been to write the perfect song, which includes a balance between emotionally engaging lyrics and melody. Most of the bands I have played with performed original material. Growing up in the late 60's and 70's, I was influenced by the Beatles, Motown, Neil Young, The Band, James Taylor, Todd Rundgren, The Allman Brothers and host of others. I always liked music arranged with steel guitars, mandolins, and banjos, like the band Poco, and Neil Young did so well. You will probably hear this in my music. Last October, I started recording some of the songs I have written over the past few years. After copies of the original mixes started being distributed to friends and other music contacts, I realized that I would need to reproduce more CD's than was possible from the recording studio. There were originally 15 songs recorded during the sessions. In the end, it seemed that some songs were too heavy, or too country to have a consistent sound on the CD. Finally, we chose nine songs which fit together well. I have recorded on Reel to Reel, Four Tract Cassette, Eight Tract Cassette, Alesis A-Data, and now I record using a Velocity Micro AMD based PC with Cakewalk Sonar. PC based recording has opened the door to Independent musicians with fidelity and flexibility equal to that of the bigger Record studios. I now have a pedal steel set up in the studio and can't wait to get at it.
